报经省委编委批准，在海南省环境科学研究院加挂海南国际蓝碳研究中心牌子，中心将围绕“开放化、国际化、专业化”的目标，采取“实体+联盟”方式，广泛吸引国内外知名学者、研究团队与相关机构，搭建知识共享与学术成果国际交流平台，努力建设高水平蓝碳研究机构，主动服务国家应对气候变化战略，成为在国际上展示我国积极参与应对全球气候变化和生态文明建设成果的靓丽名片。% k7 P, B4 _1 g4 a! C

9 X; S q* e1 @- W In order to actively and steadily promote blue carbon research work, and to better achieve the goal of peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality, the unveiling ceremony of Hainan International Blue Carbon Research Center was held in Haikou on Feb 23, 2022. Feng, Fei, Deputy Secretary of Hainan Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Hainan Province, attended the ceremony and unveiled the Blue Carbon Research Center.

W Feng, Zhonghua, Vice Governor of Hainan Province, and Yu，Lifeng，Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology, and Finance of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the PRC addressed at the ceremony. Luo, Qingming, academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, also attended the ceremony. The ceremony was officiated by Mao, Dongli, director of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Hainan Province.
; s7 j% O8 b0 q) j% k! G Blue carbon is a frontier field of global climate governance and plays a significant role in the global carbon cycle and climate change mitigation. As a major marine province, Hainan's blue carbon resources and potential are critical to China. The development of blue carbon is a specific measure to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi, Jinping's important instructions on the ecological and environmental protection work of the Hainan Free Trade Port, which can make positive contributions to promoting the realization of the carbon neutrality vision and leading the international consensus.
( N& N6 S! h0 z6 k& q Approved by the Public Sectors Reform Commission of Hainan Provincial Party Committee, the brand of “Hainan International Blue Carbon Research Center” will be added to Hainan Research Academy of Environmental Sciences. With the goal of "opening, internationalization, and specialization", Hainan International Blue Carbon Research Center will adopt the "entity + alliance" approach, widely attract well-known scholars, research teams and related institutions at home and abroad, and build a platform for knowledge sharing and international exchange of academic achievements. The research center will strive to build a high-level blue carbon research institution, actively serve China’s strategy for addressing climate change, and become a beautiful business card to showcase China's active participation in addressing global climate change and the construction of ecological civilization.

Fu, Xuanchao, secretary-general of Hainan provincial government, Zeng, Feng, deputy secretary-general of Hainan provincial government, and personnel from relevant provincial departments attended the ceremony.
