" ^% @2 m" P3 n& Y$ |  dWe would like to draw your attention toa workshop that the CLIVAR Research Focus on Tropical Basin Interaction (TBI)will be organizingin Seoul, South Korea, on June 22 and 23, 2024: Workshop on "Interactions among the tropical basins: observations and simulation”.
. l5 P8 \8 a' x# Z5 [0 bInteractions among the tropical basins have increasingly been recognized as key to understanding climate variability on interannual to decadal timescales. They not only shed light on climate phenomena like El Niño but also hold promise in enhancing predictive capabilities with extended lead times.
. i. D! S6 E. j; P7 ^$ D) dThe goals of the workshop are to bring together experts in the field and to provide a forum for presenting the latest research on TBI.  In particular, we welcome contributions on the following four topics:

5 e' H& S- z: A- c6 LClimate model simulations exploring TBI, such as pacemaker experiments

0 s' C/ [. u, F" D: b' \Conceptual and theoretical models elucidating TBI dynamics

Observational studies shedding light on TBI mechanisms

/ g2 X  l& a8 A4 W. {% YInsights derived from paleo proxies offering historical perspectives on TBI
The venue of the meeting will be Yonsei University, which is located conveniently in central Seoul. The dates are chosen such that workshop participants can attend the subsequent AOGS Annual Meeting in Pyeongchang.  The workshop will be held in person, with online components.  Limited travel support is available for in-person participation, with priority given to early career researchers and participants from developing countries.
